DFW AOA Security Upgrade

Owner: Dallas-Fort Worth Airport
General Contractor: MEC
Location: Dallas, TX

The DFW AOA Fence Security Upgrade was Phase 1 of a proposed perimeter intrusion detection system for Dallas Fort Worth Airport, until recently the largest airport in the world in terms of physical size. The scope included installation of 18 surveillance cameras, including 7 long-range night vision thermal imagers for assessment of intruders at ranges of 8000-12000 feet or more, and 11 long-range CCTV cameras for tracking of incoming aircraft, along with the electrical infrastructure and mechanical mounting for all cameras and integration of new surveillance capabilities with the airport's existing fiber optic transmission, video, digital recording, and command and control systems. 2 STS radars were added to the project scope and a radar-based perimeter intrusion detection test-bed to evaluate future technology deployments on the airports 36 mile perimeter.
