MEC is working as a subcontractor to Kiewit Pacific Co. at the Bakersfield Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) .The project entails the construction and upgrade of the WWTP from a 16mgd to 32mgd capacity plant. MEC’s work includes the following:
- Installation of 3,900lf of 60” sewer pipe
- A new headworks which includes mechanically cleaned bar screens, influent pumps & grit removal tanks
- Conversion off 4 existing secondary clarifiers into primary clarifiers
- A new activated sludge secondary treatment system
- A 2mgd tertiary (rapid mixer, cloth media filters, chlorine contact tank) treatment system
- Six new effluent percolation basins and new effluent pump stations
- Dissolved airfloatation sludge thickeners
- Two new anaerobic sludge digesters & sludge dewatering building
- New power cogeneration building
- Plant wide odor control system
- New administration/operation building and maintenance shop
- Control & monitoring
- Instrumentation & SCADA system
