Work began at the Rialto Regional Biosolids Processing Facility in April of 2007. The completed facility will convert approximately 883 wet tons per day of biosolids from five (5) municipalities in the Los Angeles Region into 167 dry tons per day of renewable fuel . The renewable fuel, called E-Fuel, will be used by a local cement kiln as an alternative to coal.
MEC's work consisted of the installation of all major equipment on site including the centrifuges, reactors and heat exchangers.
The site’s main features are beginning preparation for mechanical testing and completion, and recent site accomplishments include: dryer PLC & HMI start-up, installation of the centrifuge equipment & PLC’s, erection of the E-Fuel storage silo and instrumentation, all ductbanks installed, and the start up of the site power system.
With all major equipment installed on site, construction has shifted focus to finalizing details such as continued installation of electrical systems, SCADA / HMI system and instrumentation. |
