Since 1992, Mass. Electric Construction has been a constant presence in the Dallas area having been awarded numerous contracts with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in excess of $125 Million. Projects have included the original Starter System signal and communications; the Northeast and Northwest Extensions signal and communications; the Arena Extension signal, communications, overhead catenary, and traction power systems; and the S&I Building signal, communications, overhead catenary, and traction power systems.
MEC’s signal work has consisted of installing and testing an automatic block signal system for over 44 miles of double track. System elements have included automatic highway crossing warnings, train stops and train-towayside communications. MEC has also been responsible for the design, supply, installation and testing of the complete communications and supervisory control system. Major subsystem elements included the central computer network, fiber optic communications transmission, fire and intrusion detection, radio, SCADA and telephones.
MEC is currently working on the new Northwest and Southeast Extensions, which will add an additional 12 miles to the DART system, where it is installing the traction power substations, overhead catenary, signaling, and communications. |
