The Valley Metro Central Phoenix / East Valley (CP/EV) LRT project is a starter system for Phoenix and the surrounding areas including Mesa and Tempe. It serves as the start to a 20 year light rail expansion plan for the area. The majority of this starter system is street running along major thoroughfares. Centrally located, residential commuters have easy access to any one of 33 passenger stations. The project provides a vital link to major business and sporting venues including Sun Devil Stadium, Chase Field, the US Airways Center, Arizona State University, downtown Tempe and downtown Phoenix.
