GENZYME ALLSTON EXPANSION PROJECT

Mass. Electric Construction Co. worked as subcontractor on the construction of the 110,000 square foot expansion to the Allston, Massachusetts facility.

This LEED-certified project consisted of four floors of office and lab space, a cafeteria, one 1.2-MW co-gen and three new 2,500 kVA diesel generators. Special systems installed included building management systems, fire alarm systems, plan control systems, communications, security and a state-of-the-art lighting and blinds control package.

Genzyme’s pharmaceutical production is a twenty-four-hour, seven-day-a-week process, so all electrical work was performed without interrupting operations.
