Electric Bus Infrastructure - Houston

Houston, Texas

In August of 2022, Houston Metro received funding to purchase 20 electric buses.  This was Houston Metro’s first step towards procuring only zero-emission buses by fiscal year 2030.  To accommodate the new electric buses, upgrades were required at Houston Metro’s Kashmere, Polk and Westpark bus operating facilities.

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) was selected to install 20 Heliox Flex 180KW chargers, 26 charger columns and four Heliox 50 KW mobile chargers at three bus operating facilities.  MEC’s scope of work included the installation of all underground duct banks, foundation work, equipment installation, testing and commissioning support and all other associated infrastructure work to support the Heliox chargers.
