SHREWSBURY SOLAR FARM

Shrewsburry, Massachusetts

MEC installed this 3.3-MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system working as a subcontractor to Gehrlicher Solar America Corp.

The PV system included:

• 11,880 solar panels
• Racking for RBI ground-mounted system
• 50 combiner boxes
• 5 500-kW advanced energy inverters
• 15kV ground-mounted disconnect switch
• Data acquisition system (DAS)
• 23,055 linear feet of underground conduit
• 34,338 linear feet of feeder cable

At peak, 27 craft electricians installed duct bank, racking and panels and set the inverters. The rolling topography required special attention during squaring and torquing the racking system to ensure proper panel alignment.
