IATAN COAL-FIRED POWER PLANT

Weston, Missouri

This project constructed and installed an air quality control system (AQCS) at an existing 651-MW unit and built major components for a new 850-MW unit, including the steam turbine, boiler, AQCS and balance of plant (BOP) electrical work. Coordinating with several other trades and contractors on site, and working with local unions, MEC installed:

  • Switchgear
  • Seven major power control module (PCM) buildings
  • High-voltage bus work
  • Over 550,000 feet of conduit raceway
  • Approximately 65,000 feet of cable tray
  • Over 5 million feet of power, control and instrumentation cabling
  • More than 124,000 wire terminations

Despite challenges including a complex multi-tiered cable tray system spanning areas with limited or difficult access, MEC delivered all work on time and budget.
