EL PICO SURFACE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

Laredo, Texas

This 20 million gallons per day (MGD) surface water treatment plant extracts water from the Rio Grande River and distributes potable water. The expandable infrastructure was designed to support up to 80 MGD.

MEC constructed all plant electrical systems, including:

• Power and distribution equipment
• Low-voltage raceway and cabling
• Instrumentation and control system
• Medium-voltage equipment and cabling
• Communication system
• Security and fire alarm systems
• Lightning protection

The systems required the installation of under- and above-ground conduit with associated supports and accessories, junction and pull boxes, electrical distribution equipment, panel boards, disconnects, 600-volt cable and building wire, instrumentation and control cable, 600-volt terminations and instrumentation and control cable terminations.
